Hey, I’m Shay, and this is my husband, Tanner. We’re just two people who thought we had a whole lifetime ahead of us—until life had other plans. Right after our second anniversary,

Tanner was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. Suddenly, our world became a mix of hospital rooms, scans, and moments that felt too big to hold. But even in the hardest times, we’ve found love, laughter, and meaning in places we never expected.

This blog is a place for the messy, beautiful, and brutally honest parts of life. We talk about cancer, grief, mental health, and end-of-life preparation—not because we have all the answers, but because we’re living it—while also embracing the joy, love, and moments of laughter that make life meaningful, even in the midst of uncertainty.

I’m the main writer here, but Tanner might pop in when he’s up for it. He’s the calm to my storm, the guy who can make me laugh even on the worst days, and the reason I believe in love that lasts.

We’re sharing our story because no one should have to face this kind of pain alone. If you’re here—whether you’re navigating loss, loving someone through illness, or just trying to figure out how to hold joy and grief at the same time—we see you. Life is hard, but it’s also incredible. And we’re going to talk about all of it.

Thanks for being here. 💛
